A familiar duo, who once wore the colours of Celtic, were back on British soil on Sunday when they started Belgium’s 2-1 defeat against England at Wembley – Dedryck Boyata and Jason Denayer.
Boyata was the most recent of the defensive duo to play at Parkhead before his free-transfer away from the club in 2019 saw him move to Germany and sign up with Hertha Berlin.
As for Denayer, he is currently plying his trade in France for last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Lyon.
Well, they both started for the number one ranked FIFA team on Sunday and they caught the eye of some Celtic supporters.
Even though the Belgian’s took the lead through the penalty spot, they should have added a second prior to that goal, but the linesman wrongly ruled the goal offside.
From then on, both Boyata and Denayer were unable to stop England securing all three points in the UEFA Nations League group match.
Nonetheless, Celtic fans offered their thoughts on their performance and some were unhappy with Sky Sports commentator, Martin Tyler, for failing to acknowledge that they once played at Parkhead.
Tyler mentioned the defensive duo coming through the ranks at Manchester City, but failed to share them winning trophies in Glasgow.
