Aiden McGeady made headlines this week for admitting that he would like a return to Celtic [Go Radio].
The former Republic of Ireland international kick-started his professional career with the Hoops, the club that he joined at the age of 14.
And the Scotland-born winger was a huge player for Celtic during six years in the senior side, winning four Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.
McGeady, who turned 34 in April, left Paradise in 2010 but the player – now at Sunderland – admitted earlier this week that he might jump at the chance to play under Neil Lennon in Scotland.
With 32 goals and 48 assists from 200 appearances for Celtic, he was certainly a big asset once upon a time.
But here’s how some Bhoys fans reacted to the idea of re-signing McGeady, who earns £31,000 per week at the Stadium of Light right now.
Could this happen? In a word, nope.
As talented as he once was, Celtic have moved on and Lennon has better wingers – like Mo Elyounoussi – at his disposal now.
And for what he’s earning, this just makes no football or financial sense for the Bhoys, sadly for McGeady.
