Micah Richards has got quite a lot of Celtic fans talking on Twitter this afternoon following a cryptic tweet that may be regarding the manager’s job at Parkhead.
The Hoops are yet to hire a long-term replacement for Neil Lennon, who quit his post last month following a dismal 10-in-a-row bid in Glasgow.
Celtic, who are 20 points behind champions Rangers, have placed John Kennedy in charge of the senior side on an interim basis but it seems unlikely that he’ll keep the job on a permanent basis.
A number of people are reportedly in the running and one of those is Manchester United legend Roy Keane.
The 49-year-old has been out of management for a decade following a spell with Ipswich Town, and Sunderland prior to that, but it’s been reported this month that Keane – who also played for Celtic toward the end of his career – is ready to take the job if it’s offered to him [The Scottish Sun].
The Irishman has gained a reputation for his on-air bromance with fellow Sky Sports pundit Richards over the past year and the latter joked earlier this month that he was ready to follow Keane to Parkhead to be his assistant manager.
Earlier today, Richards posted a cryptic gif on Twitter and some Bhoys fans think – and worry – that it’s potentially a sign of some movement.
It remains to be seen if Richards is winding up the Celtic fans which, given his character and propensity to have a bit of a laugh, can’t be ruled out.
But by the same token, there does seem a real chance that Keane could wind up back at the club as manager and considering his relationship and chemistry with the former midfielder, a coaching role for Richards isn’t hugely unthinkable.
