Everton are reportedly considering a move for Burnley defender Ben Mee should they fail to sign Yerry Mina.
A number of Burnley fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports from the Liverpool Echo that Everton could consider making a move for Ben Mee should the Toffees fail to sign Yerry Mina this summer.
Marco Silva is clearly focusing plenty of his energy on strengthening his defensive options during the latter stages of this window. The Liverpool Echo reports that the Portuguese is hoping to sign Mina from Barcelona but has a number of alternative targets in mind, including Marcos Rojo from Manchester United and Clarets stalwart Mee.
Mee has been a superb servant for Sean Dyche’s side, making nearly 250 appearances for the club in all competitions, including 96 games in the Premier League across three of the last four campaigns.
However, the 28-year-old faces something of an uncertain future at Turf Moor this summer. The Burnley Express reports that his contract with Burnley expires next year, and while talks have been held regarding extending his deal, there has been no confirmation yet that he will be staying beyond the next 12 months.
It appears that some Burnley fans are now concerned by the Liverpool Echo’s report regarding Everton’s potential interest in Mee. Last summer, the Clarets saw Michael Keane make the move from Turf Moor to Goodison Park, and it appears that some supporters are convinced that the centre-back could head in the same direction.
Others have urged Mee to look at what has happened to Keane as a reason to choose to stay put should Everton come calling, but there are those who have suggested that the defender should go if he does not want to stick around.
