Some Birmingham City fans are calling on the Blues’ board to bring the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Chris Hughton, back to St Andrew’s.
Birmingham announced Garry Monk’s sacking on Tuesday – much to the dismay of the club’s fanbase.
But re-hiring Hughton, who led the Blues into the Championship play-offs as boss at the start of the decade, could go some way towards healing those wounds, it seems.
The 60-year-old has promotions on his CV with Newcastle United and Brighton, who sacked him at the end of last season – the second in succession in which the Seagulls had survived relegation back to the second tier.

Interestingly, Monk leaves behind his entire coaching team, with his long-time assistant, Pep Clotet, taking the Birmingham reins on a caretaker basis.
Hughton is said to have been among the contenders for the recent vacancy at Birmingham’s local rivals, West Bromwich Albion, who eventually hired Slaven Bilic instead.
