Aston Villa could reportedly be offered Charlie Adam as part of Stoke City’s next bid for James Chester.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to discuss reports emerging from The Sun on Sunday (29/07; page 63) over the weekend which suggested that Stoke City could try to sell Charlie Adam to the Villans in their next bid for James Chester.
Chester has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park for much of the summer. However, the Express and Star reported last week that despite having a £10 million bid on the table from the Potters, Chester wished to stay at his current club after the new majority shareholders made the decision to keep Steve Bruce at the helm.
It appears that Stoke are not planning to shelve their plans to target the Wales international however, with The Sun on Sunday (29/07; page 63) reporting that Gary Rowett’s men could look to offload Adam to Villa as part of the deal. It is not clear whether the Villa hierarchy would have any desire to accept such a proposal.
What is clear however, is that a large majority of the Aston Villa fans on social media have absolutely no interest in the club signing Adam as part of the deal that sees Chester head in the opposite direction.

The centre-back has been a superb signing for the Villans and his importance has arguably increased further following John Terry’s departure at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Adam goes into this campaign off the back of an underwhelming year with the Potters. And as many Villa fans point out, the club probably do not need another experienced midfielder given the options Bruce currently has at his disposal.

Here is what some of the Villa fans made of the reports linking Adam with a move…
