A handful of Aston Villa fans have been reacting to the reports that Newcastle United could consider a move for Albert Adomah.
A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports emerging from The Sun on Sunday (08/07; page 60) over the weekend which suggested that Newcastle could target Albert Adomah if their pursuit of Andros Townsend proves unsuccessful.
According to The Sun on Sunday, Rafa Benitez hopes to sign £20 million-rated Townsend two years after selling him to Crystal Palace as Newcastle prepare for their second season back at the highest level. However, they appear to be bracing themselves for the possibility that Townsend may not come back.
The 30-year-old played a key role in guiding the Villans to the play-off final in the Championship last season. He scored 14 goals from the wing and looked to be the side’s most dangerous player at times. Interestingly however, news of Newcastle’s interest has prompted a number of fans to suggest that now is the time to cash-in.
It has been well publicised that Villa will not be splashing the cash as things stand after missing out on promotion, and selling players may perhaps be necessary in the coming weeks. And that is perhaps why some of the Villa supporters are not against Adomah leaving.
There appear to be concerns that he will not be able to replicate his best form for too much longer and selling him may alleviate some of the pressure on the books. But perhaps some of the Villa fans’ desire to offload the attacker should alarm Newcastle supporters slightly, especially as a move would obviously see him step up a division.
