Alan Hutton was in action for Aston Villa against Burton Albion on Saturday.
Aston Villa fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to manager Steve Bruce’s decision to deploy Alan Hutton as a central defender against Burton Albion.
Hutton featured for Villa in their pre-season friendly match against Burton at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Villans – who reached the Championship playoff final last season – were the better team from start to finish and won the game 4-0 with relative ease.
Former Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur defender is a right-back by trade, but the 33-year-old Scotsman was deployed as a central defender.
Hutton featured as one of three centre-backs against Burton, and although the defender’s performance was encouraging in the second half, he did not look very comfortable in the opening 45 minutes.
Villa fans, who will expect the team at least challenge for the Championship playoffs next season, were not pleased with manager Bruce’s decision to deploy Hutton as a central defender against Burton.
