Some Arsenal fans on Twitter think that Jean-Michel Aulas’s comments on Houssem Aouar this morning suggest that the midfielder is on his way to the Emirates Stadium.

Aulas has claimed on the social networking site this morning that Arsenal have made a bid for Aouar.

The Lyon president has added that the Gunners’ offer does not meet his valuation of the 22-year-old, and has backed him to stay at the club and get the team back to the Champions League.

Aulas wrote on Twitter, as translated from French by Get French Football News: “There will be very few departures, Arsenal are way too far away from his value: we are counting on him to have a great match vs Lorient & to lead Lyon into the Champions League next year.”

On Friday evening, ESPN reported that the Gunners have put in an offer of €35 million (£31.94 million) for the youngster, but Aulas’s comments suggest that the Premier League club will have to increase their bid in order to secure his services before the summer transfer window closes next month.

Some Arsenal fans think that Aulas publicly confirming the bid from Arsenal suggests that the Aouar will join Mikel Arteta’s side soon.

Some of the Gunners fans have pointed out at what Aulas said about Alexandre Lacazette before the France international striker left Lyon for the North London club in 2017.
