Speculation about Thomas Partey joining Arsenal has gone a little cold in recent weeks.

Much of the content that the rumour mill is churning out for Arsenal right now centres around Willian, Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Magalhaes.

But since lockdown, so much of the speculation has been about one player and one player only: Partey.

He has been heavily linked with a switch to North London, but Atletico Madrid have tabled a contract offer and he’ll decide his future this month [Marca].

There’s just no getting away from the fact that the Ghana international will be pricey if the Gunners sign him in a traditional, outright deal.

But some fans of the North London side reckon there’s a new opportunity opening up involving Lucas Torreira.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Atletico are one of the clubs interested in the Uruguayan pitbull, who operates in a similar position as Partey.

And Arsenal fans on Twitter believe that a swap – or at least a player-plus-cash option – deal should definitely be considered.

This one could be a go because Torreira, according to the Italian outlet, has told the Emirates Stadium club that he’s interested in moving on, in pursuit of first-team football.

The former Sampdoria midfielder would surely love to play under his fellow South American Diego Simeone.

There’s no sense in Atletico having Partey and Torreira, so if they’re interested in the latter then maybe, just maybe, Arsenal could figure out a way to satisfy both clubs.
