The Gunners have confirmed that Mat Ryan is available for selection ahead of this afternoon’s visit to Aston Villa.
With Bernd Leno suspended, Arsenal looked like they would’ve had to field rookie goalkeeper Alex Runarsson for today’s Premier League.
But Ryan, signed from Brighton last month, has recovered in time to deputise for the German and now looks set for his debut.
Runarsson made a big error in his last game for Arsenal – a League Cup defeat by Manchester City – and suffice to say that some fans of the North London side are delighted that the Iceland international doesn’t look like he’ll be involved against the Villans.

Either way, it isn’t ideal for Arsenal.
Neither have played for the club in the Premier League, but it must be said that Ryan, who has 121 appearances under his belt in this competition, is a much better option.
