Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos seems to be going from strength to strength whilst out on loan.
The 23-year-old was loaned to Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart by Arsenal last summer after becoming surplus to Mikel Arteta’s requirements at the Emirates Stadium, for this season at least.
But it’s been a brilliant stint in Germany for the big Greek centre-back and he clocked 90 minutes in the 5-1 demolition of Schalke this afternoon.
Mavropanos, who joined Arsenal during Arsene Wenger’s reign back in 2018, is very much a first-team regular with his loan club.
Here’s how some fans of the Emirates Stadium side responded to his post-match tweet today:
He’s clearly a good defender but does he have a long-term future in North London? Well, Arteta has quite a lot of centre-backs on the books, even after severing ties with Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi last month.
The likes of David Luiz, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari, Gabriel, Calum Chambers and William Saliba are still officially Arsenal players and no doubt Mavropanos has a fight on his hands if he has designs on staying in the Premier League.
