
Arsenal defender William Saliba was partially at fault for his loan side’s defeat this afternoon.
The Gunners loaned Saliba to Nice a little earlier in the month and despite the French side struggling, the player himself has looked extremely impressive – on an individual level – so far.
It was a romantic day for the 19-year-old by virtue of the fact that he was coming up against Saint Etienne, the club where he began his career prior to joining Arsenal for £27 million in 2019.
But it wasn’t a happy reunion.
The visitors scored an 88th-minute winner as Saliba and his team-mates suffered a 1-0 defeat.
The young Frenchman’s original header just before the goal wasn’t brilliant, before he then failed to stop the resulting cross.
It’s difficult to know what constitutes an error in football but this might qualify for the Arsenal prospect.
