Well, Mesut Ozil looks like he’s had his ticket punched at Arsenal.
The former Germany international hasn’t kicked a ball for the Gunners since March.
He was named on the bench for a few games during Project Restart in the summer but Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta never brought him on.
Ozil is earning a whopping £350,000 per week in North London but Arteta has just made an example of the former Real Madrid playmaker.
On Tuesday, the 32-year-old was left out of Arsenal’s revised Premier League squad and at this stage it looks certain that he’s played his last game for the club, having also failed to make the Europa League panel.
Here’s how fans of the Emirates Stadium side reacted to the news on Twitter:
It really is quite a sad state of affairs.
But this is a reminder that Arteta is much more ruthless than Unai Emery or Arsene Wenger when it comes to Ozil.
The Spaniard’s two predecessors had frozen out Ozil too but also brought him back.
But there’s no way back under Arteta and time will tell how the Arsenal squad react.
