The Gunners do have quite a number of centre-backs, seven in fact – Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Sokratis, Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz and William Saliba.
While Gabriel would be a good signing for the long term, it would not make sense for Arsenal to pay £27 million for a centre-back in the summer transfer window without selling a few players who play in the same position.
