Some Arsenal fans have been reacting on Twitter – and not in a good way – to the performance of Omar Rekik and his teammates as the Gunners’ U23s were thrashed 6-1 by West Ham United.
What’s the story?
The young guns were on the end of a mauling against their east London counterparts last night.
Their misery was compounded by ex-Gunner Armstrong Oko-Flex, who bagged a hat-trick against his former employers.
Further goals from Ademipo Odubeko, Conor Coventry and Thierry Nevers got new Arsenal U23s manager Kevin Betsy off to the worst possible start.
At least Miguel Azeez clinched a consolation goal, albeit via the penalty spot.
It leaves Arsenal U23s bottom of the Premier League 2 Division 1 table. Arsenal were close to relegation last season, finishing just four points clear of the bottom two.

Arsenal U23s need Rekik and the rest to step up this season
Last season was certainly a dismal campaign for the youngsters. Their demise from league champions to relegation fodder has been a remarkable fall from grace.
Given the amount of young talent emerging in the first team, you would think the youth side would be in a great place to keep the conveyor belt going.
However, the opposite appeared to be true last night as their struggles continued from last season.
Rekik highlighted Arsenal U23s’ woes with his display. The German’s passing came under increasing scrutiny, especially in the build-up to West Ham’s second goal.
