Some Arsenal fans on Twitter aren’t keen on the idea of signing Julian Brandt.
The Borussia Dortmund playmaker is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar once again [Kicker] ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners were heavily linked in January but wound up signing Martin Odegaard instead.
But with Odegaard returning to Real Madrid this summer and his future uncertain, the North Londoners seem to have stuck Brandt back on the shortlist of potential signings.
Thing is, he hasn’t had a good season with Dortmund.
The 25-year-old has only managed four goals in 44 games across all competitions this season.
And here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to the prospect of signing him.
Brandt would already have at least one friend at the Emirates after goalkeeper Bernd Leno revealed in midweek that he was texting his compatriot with regards to the previous interest earlier this year.
But Arsenal fans are right in saying that Mikel Arteta Edu could – and should – aim for a lot better.
The Gunners are a million miles from being good enough for top four this season and presumably the competition will only increase next term.
That means Arsenal must improve with it and is Brandt an upgrade on Odegaard? The answer is no.
Even if they can’t sign the Norwegian star on a permanent basis, Edu and Arteta should still be looking at better number 10s.
