Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos just can’t catch a break it seems.
The Gunners loaned the towering Greek centre-back to Stuttgart for the 2020-21 campaign this past summer.
In doing so, the move reunited him with Sven Mislintat, who worked as Arsenal’s Head of Recruitment until 2019 and brought the 22-year-old to North London a year earlier.
Injuries have stunted the big man’s progress at the Emirates Stadium over the past couple of seasons – and he has now suffered yet another one.
As announced by the German side on Twitter, Mavropanos is set to undergo surgery on a knee issue that is set to keep him on the sidelines for a little while, though no specific return date has been confirmed as of yet.
This is a player who missed 117 days of the 2018-19 campaign under Unai Emery [Transfermarkt] due to a groin strain, and later fell out of favour under the Spaniard at the Emirates Stadium.
Injuries clearly haven’t been kind to Mavropanos and here’s how Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter to his latest setback.
Even more disappointing for the player, he had only made his senior debut in the Bundesliga earlier this month in the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen and he’ll have been looking forward to building on it.
