Some Arsenal fans want Patrick Vieira back at the club in some capacity following breaking news from France.
Ligue 1 side OGC Nice have confirmed in the last hour that they have parted company with the former Gunners captain.
Vieira, who spent nine years at Arsenal as a player, became the French club’s coach in 2018 but a run of five successive defeats has ended his first managerial stint in Europe.
The 44-year-old was tentatively linked with the Arsenal job last December, before the Gunners hired Mikel Arteta.
And some fans of the Emirates Stadium side want their former hero back as Arteta’s assistant:
Let’s look ahead three days and there’s every chance that Vieira will be linked with Arteta’s job by Monday.
Arsenal, who sit 14th in the Premier League table, visit North London rivals Tottenham and a probable defeat would bring up questions about Arteta’s long-term future at the club.
To be 14th after 10 games really isn’t good enough and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Spurs win and Vieira is linked by next week.
