Arsenal have survived a huge injury scare.
It’s probably testament to the Gunners’ problems this season, but the one player they absolutely can’t do without is Kieran Tierney.
The Scottish left-back has created more goalscoring chances than any other Arsenal player this season.
And his performance in the FA Cup win over Newcastle United last weekend only served to remind fans of the North London club that he’s probably their best and most purposeful player right now.
But there was major concern on Thursday when it was announced that Tierney wasn’t included in Mikel Arteta’s squad for the visit of Crystal Palace, which ended 0-0.
The Arsenal boss later spiked the supporters’ anxiety by revealing that he was going for an MRI scan.
But according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the results of the scan returned positive and the 23-year-old could be back in Arteta’s squad for the Premier League visit of Newcastle on Monday night.
And suffice to say that some fans of the Emirates Stadium side are absolutely delighted.
As mentioned, it’s definitely reflective of Arsenal’s overall problems this season if news about a left-back is celebrated like this.
But the reality is that regardless of his position, Tierney is an enormous player for the club and any injury whatsoever could’ve been detrimental to whatever they hope to achieve this season.
