Mikel Arteta was left fuming after Arsenal’s game against Leicester City last week. The Gunners boss wasn’t at all happy with Eddie Nketiah’s red card, and Jamie Vardy not being shown the same angered him even more.

Nketiah was rightly shown the red card for his late tackle on James Justin. Vardy’s challenge was overlooked in the game and by the FA post-match, despite Arteta’s desperate plea for action against violent conduct.

VAR’s verdict on such challenges haven’t been consistent at all this season, and last night’s decision at Old Trafford will fill Arteta and Arsenal fans with even more rage.

Southampton’s Oriol Romeu caught Mason Greenwood in a similar fashion as Nketiah did last week. The referee chose to ignore it and VAR decided against intervening.

The Saints midfielder was definitely lucky to stay on the pitch after his horrendous tackle. That challenge could have put Greenwood on the sidelines for a while but, thankfully, the Manchester United man came out of it without any serious problems.

That challenge certainly angered Manchester United fans. Even more so, Arsenal supporters were left fuming at the decision and many of them took to Twitter to express their frustration.
