Former Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski has appeared to celebrate the demise of the European Super League on Twitter.
Arsenal announced on Tuesday night that they had pulled out of the Florentino Perez-led venture which shocked European football on the Sunday.
Last weekend, the Gunners, along with six other Premier League clubs, revealed that they were breaking away from UEFA in favour of a privatised midweek competition full of the continent’s biggest and best teams.
But the proposal was met with enormous hostility and even transcended the football world, with Boris Johnson and Prince William condemning the idea.
But the European Super League has now been suspended after the Premier League six confirmed their exit, with Arsenal the only club to apologise for their part.
