Yet another summer transfer window is approaching where Arsenal are in a need of a new central defender.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of centre-halves over the last few weeks but Reims’ Axel Disasi was a surprise name.
The Mail reported a few weeks ago that Mikel Arteta’s side have entered into talks with the Ligue 1 outfit over a summer move and a deal looked possible considering that Disasi has just over a year left on his contract.
However, Arsenal are not the only team looking at him. Fellow Premier League side Southampton are also said to be interested in the Congolese defender and the Saints are reportedly confident of signing him. (Daily Mail)
Reims president, Jean-Pierre Caillot, spoke to L’Equipe (read more here) and hinted that his star defender could be heading to the Premier League.
That realistically should put Arsenal ahead of Southampton in the race for the defender but some Gunners fans don’t feel that way.
Some Arsenal supporters would certainly be interested in the club signing Disasi, but a few of them feel that he will end up at St. Mary’s this summer.
