Let’s face it, Arsenal’s season ended the moment they were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night.
Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw with Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium in midweek and in doing so, were dumped out of Europe’s secondary competition at the semi-final stage.
With the Gunners 10th in the Premier League table with four games left, Mikel Arteta’s side don’t have much to play for.
That makes tonight’s visit of West Bromwich Albion something of a dead rubber from the hosts’ perspective, in the grand scheme of things.
And as a result, some Arsenal fans want to see Arteta give Folarin Balogun a Premier League debut.
The 19-year-old marksman signed a new contract in April but hasn’t featured in England’s top flight yet – and hasn’t started a game in any competition since the Europa League group stages last year.
But with nothing to play for against the Baggies, some Arsenal fans would love to see the Arsenal manager give Balogun – who had two minutes against Sparta Prague – a run-out against Sam Allardyce’s side.
