Some Arsenal and Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Houssem Aouar for Lyon against Manchester City this evening.
The Frenchman has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool, and fans of the respective Premier League clubs were impressed with his performance.
RMC Sport in June that Liverpool are very interested in the Lyon midfielder (click here to read more), while L’Equipe has claimed that Arsenal want the youngster, but their bid to sign him and involve Matteo Guendouzi in a swap deal has been rejected (click here to read more).
Aouar was in action for Lyon in their Champions League quarter-final tie against City on Saturday evening.
The 22-year-old midfielder started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the French club won 3-1.
The Frenchman is one of the best young players in Europe, and he showed why he is rated so highly against City.
The youngster held his own against Pep Guardiola’s side, looked very creative, and played a big part in Lyon’s win.
According to WhoScored, Aouar took one shot which was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 63.6%, took 48 touches, attempted four dribbles, made two tackles and one interception, and put in one cross.
The 22-year-old made 23 starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring three goals and providing four assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
Aouar has scored one goal and provided four assists in seven Champions League games for the French club this season, according to WhoScored.
