Mikel Arteta’s honeymoon period at Arsenal is definitely over.

The Spaniard delivered an FA Cup title for the Gunners in his first half-a-season in senior management, after replacing Unai Emery last December.

But his first full term at Arsenal could be described as being lukewarm at the moment.

So far, Arteta’s side won three and lost three of their six Premier League games this season, including a 1-0 defeat at home to Leicester City last weekend.

The North Londoners visit in-form Manchester United today, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side scoring 11 goals in their last four games across all competitions – including an impressive 2-1 win away to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Arteta won his last head-to-head with the Norwegian during the early weeks of his Arsenal reign.

And speaking to a pre-match press conference on United’s website, Solskjaer was full of praise for his opposite number, saying: “He’s already won a trophy with them and you can see what he’s doing. You can see that he’s got his own ideas and that he has also worked under a top manager before. When you’re at the start of your career as a manager and you’re winning already it’s a great foundation to build from.”
