Ander Herrera is in the form of his life for Manchester United and is proving key to their resurgence.

The Spanish midfielder was talked up by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of this weekend’s Liverpool game.

Solskjaer gave credit to Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa for grounding the midfielder.

Herrera was a key part of Bielsa’s Athletic Bilbao side, who knocked Manchester United out of the 2011/12 Europa League.

Solskjaer told BBC Sport: “He covers every bit of grass on the pitch and has so much passion, energy and enthusiasm.

“I remember when he played against us for Bilbao. He has gone through a good school in Bielsa.”

Solskjaer’s comments reflect the high esteem in which Bielsa is held throughout the game.

Manchester United paid £29 million to sign Herrera in 2014.

Leeds fans are rightly proud of Bielsa, but there is a risk that managers will target Leeds players particularly in the future, as they will be getting a superior player thanks to the experience of being coached by the Argentine.
