Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and Conor Hourihane have praised Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa on Instagram for his performance against Newcastle United at the weekend.

Villa got the better of Newcastle 2-0 at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Ollie Watkins put the Villans in the lead in the 13th minute, and Bertrand Traore doubled the advantage on 42 minutes.

Defender Konsa started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and the 23-year-old has expressed his delight on Instagram at the win and at keeping a clean sheet.

Chelsea striker Abraham, who had a loan spell at Villa in 2018-19, has praised the youngster on Instagram, and so have central midfielder Hourihane – who recently joined Swansea City on loan from the Villans – and former star Ian Taylor, as shown below.

Important player for Aston Villa

Konsa has been on the books of Villa since the summer of 2019 when he joined from Brentford for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £12 million.

The young defender has established himself as an important player for manager Dean Smith.

So far this season, the 23-year-old has made 14 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Villans, scoring two goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

Against Newcastle at the weekend, the former England Under-21 international took one shot which was on target, had a pass accuracy of 94.7%, won three headers, took 70 touches, and made six clearances, according to WhoScored.
