Ivan Toney made just two Premier League appearances for Newcastle United before he was sold to League One outfit Peterborough.

Somehow, Newcastle United managed to make a healthy profit on Ivan Toney last summer.
A 2015 signing from Northampton Town, Newcastle took a punt on a teenage Toney four years ago but his spell at St James’ Park proved to be rather forgettable. The striker made just four appearances for The Magpies, failed to score a single goal, and was ushered out of the back door in August after a series of loan spells in the lower leagues.
According to The Chronicle, Toney joined Peterborough United for £650,000 last year – a cool £400,000 more than Newcastle paid for him in the first place.
On paper, that looked like good business. But, on second viewing, perhaps not. Because Toney has enjoyed a remarkable debut season at London Road, scoring a hugely impressive 19 goals in all competitions for the League One outfit.

Suddenly, £650,000 is looking like a real bargain for a Peterborough side who had a real challenge on their hands replacing the influential Jack Marriott in the summer when he left The Posh behind to join Derby County.
Is this a case of Newcastle letting a goalscoring star slip through their net or has Toney merely found his level?
