Liverpool have suffered a number of defensive blows in recent weeks, meaning they may have to dip into the transfer market for a new centre back.
The Reds lost Virgil van Dijk to a season-ending injury last month, and Joe Gomez will now miss the majority of the campaign having also suffered a knee injury.
With Fabinho out too, Jurgen Klopp is short of centre back options right now, and one former Reds talent has been mentioned for a move back to Anfield.
Conor Coady spent nine years in the Liverpool setup and grew up supporting the Reds, but left for Huddersfield Town in 2014, before then heading to Wolves a year later.
Previously a holding midfielder, Coady is now a centre back at Wolves, and has been their captain throughout their impressive return to the Premier League.
Coady even has three caps for England, and continues to shine in the Wolves back line – so should Liverpool try to bring him back to Anfield in 2021?
The Wolves ace has Premier League experience, and is exactly the kind of vocal leader Liverpool need in Van Dijk’s absence, whilst he has also shown the ability to play out from the back.

Coady isn’t the biggest centre back of all time, and he isn’t particularly quick either, which is a concern in Klopp high-line defence, but neither was Dejan Lovren, and Klopp managed to get strong performances out of him as a backup centre back.
At nearly 28 though, Coady doesn’t fit the usual bill of a Liverpool signing. Thiago Alcantara was a special case given his immense quality, and it’s hard to see them making a similar exception for Coady.
If Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards want a replacement for Lovren, as an experienced Premier League defender, a leader and a player who can fill in without being an absolutely perfect fit, then Coady does make sense as a target – especially given his love for the club.
Liverpool should at least consider Coady, and Edwards was allegedly tracking him in 2019, meaning he may well be on Liverpool’s wish list for 2021.
