Casper Sloth ended an unsuccessful spell at Leeds United last summer to return to Denmark.

One of the most disappointing signings from Massimo Cellino’s early days at Leeds United turned out to be Casper Sloth, who arrived with big promise.

The attacking midfielder was a Danish international who had featured at Wembley against England months earlier, going up against Steven Gerrard.

At Leeds he looked anything but international quality, and could not force his way into the side.

He was unfortunate to sign at a time where Leeds changed managers three times in as many months, but none of the bosses during his time at the club took a shine to him.

Sloth was sold in the summer to Aalborg, returning to his native Denmark.

Having spent most of last season with the under-23 side at Leeds, this has been a campaign of re-adjustment for Sloth, who essentially wasted two years of his career at Elland Road, making only seven starts.

Back at Aalborg you might think that Sloth has hit it off, back in the familiar surroundings of the Superligaen, but it has not panned out that way.

He has made only nine starts this past season, with a further nine appearances from the bench.

Sloth has not scored at all, providing only two assists. One of these came last month, but lately it has not been a good spell for him, losing his starting place.

In Aalborg’s past seven games, he has only made it off the bench three times, playing for a maximum of 14 minutes.

If Sloth was hoping to prove Leeds wrong, he has a long way to go.
