The Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur men will be missing for Wales tomorrow night.
Speaking to ESPN, Santiago Solari has suggested that Aaron Ramsey’s suspension for Wales has overshadowed the fact that Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies will also miss the Euro 2016 semi-final with Portugal this week.
The Arsenal playmaker has been exceptional for Wales as Chris Coleman’s side look to move within 90 minutes of winning the competition if they beat Portugal tomorrow.
Reaching the final would be a phenomenal achievement in itself, but the Welsh must do it without Ramsey and his Spurs counterpart after the duo picked up yellow cards in the 3-1 victory over Belgium in the previous round.
Premier League champion and Leicester City midfielder Andy King could come into the fold, as could Crystal Palace’s Jonny Williams, but Solari, who spent five years with Real Madrid believes that nobody can fill the void left by the Arsenal star.
Davies, of course, will be a huge miss too, but the 39-year-old says Ramsey’s absence has diminished the defender’s suspension somewhat.
“Ramsey is impossible to replace,” he told ESPN. “Ramsey, along with Gareth Bale, has been Wales’ best player in this competition.
“He’s the number 10, the playmaker, he has the most assists for his team, most touches and most passes. He is irreplaceable for this team.
“And another big miss for Wales is Davies, but we don’t talk about him because we’re talking about Ramsey.”
