Glasgow Rangers target Dominic Solanke is reportedly keen on making the move to Ibrox this summer.

Any concerns that Rangers fans may have had about Steven Gerrard taking over at Ibrox appear to have largely evaporated with the Gers already making two shrewd signings ahead of the summer and eyeing up several more exciting targets who could improve a Light Blues squad that did briefly threaten to set up a title race in the Scottish Premiership this past season.
One of the most exciting rumours involving Rangers this summer is The Scottish Sun’s report that the Gers are eyeing Dominic Solanke on loan for Gerrard’s first season at the helm.

Solanke has scored just one goal for Liverpool but is clearly an extremely bright talent that Jurgen Klopp thinks very highly of. The striker was an unused substitute in the Champions League final when Klopp could have considered other attackers for his bench.
That means that The Scottish Sun’s suggestion that Solanke is keen to make the move to Ibrox this summer should seriously excite the Gers supporters as it provides an early indication of the kind of impact that Gerrard could have with Rangers.

Solanke is an unproven talent in the Premier League, but he would arrive with 21 league appearances for Liverpool under his belt if Rangers completed a loan deal. And had Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane picked up an injury against Real Madrid, his most recent outing before a move to Ibrox could have been in a Champions League final.
One year ago, it would have seemed incredibly bizarre for a striker with those statistics to consider leaving a Premier League giant for a loan spell at Rangers unless he had the same love for the club that the likes of Graham Dorrans and Greg Docherty boast.
With Gerrard’s appointment, those moves are now seemingly possible, and that is before Rangers put together a serious title challenge. If they could actually threaten to end Celtic’s dominance, the opportunity to move should become even more appealing to those featuring fairly regularly in the Premier League.
Rangers cannot solely rely on the manager’s status in the game to attract top players. They must back the Englishman with the funds to make the deals happen, but it is certainly fair to say that appointing Gerrard appears to have opened an exciting door for the Gers with Solanke viewing an Ibrox switch as a step in the right direction for his career.
