Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has experimented with a number of different formations this season.

When speaking live on Sky Sports‘ Premier League Daily show at 10:41 am on Tuesday March 7th, former Spurs and Arsenal man Sol Campbell explained why he thinks Mauricio Pochettino’s men are a better side when they play a flat back four, as apposed to playing three centre-backs.
The Argentine has been extremely experimental with his tactics and formations this season, opting to play both 4-2-3-1 and 3-4-2-1 alternatively throughout the course of their campaign.
And they have impressed when using both systems.
Pochettino’s ability to mix things up tactically has given his side an extra edge this term, and made them more unpredictable to play against – which can only be a good thing.
But Campbell, who made 255 Premier League appearances for the Lilywhites, explained why he believes his former club are better off sticking with a flat back four, when speaking to Sky Sports:

“I think for them, a back four is better, because they’ve got a strong back four. I have always believed you don’t need a five, if you’re strong enough you only need a four, and then you can have more players going forward. I think they have benefitted from just having a back four, because they are very strong, tight, and they have the best defensive line in the land, so four is definitely suiting them.”
Next up for the north London outfit is their FA Cup quarter final against Millwall on Sunday, before they welcome Southampton to White Hart Lane in the Premier League the following weekend.
