The former Gunners man says Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi have been superb.

Former Arsenal centre-back Sol Campbell has told 888sport that the club’s central defensive partnership of Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi is a balanced and calm foundation for the club.
The duo have emerged as Arsene Wenger’s first-choice pairing in the injury absence of captain Per Mertesacker, and on current form it appears as if the German will struggle to win back his spot when he returns.
Arsenal have conceded just 10 times in their first 10 Premier League games, and have let in only six since the opening-day defeat to Liverpool.

They have allowed only nine strikes against them in 15 games in all competitions since that 4-3 reverse against the Reds, a record which has been built on the partnership between Koscielny and summer signing Mustafi.
Campbell believes that Wenger has finally found a suitably strong pairing at the back, and highlighted the pair’s mobility and calm mentality as their core strength together.

He told 888sport: “I like the mentality between them. They have the right guys in there now who have the willingness to defend and that is key.
“They’re mobile but calm; they can pass the ball around the back or pick the right ball or find row Z if needed. There is a nice balance between those guys.”
Finding defensive stability has been a key issue for Arsenal in recent years, and the fact that they finally seem to have stumbled upon a winning formula will have come as a huge relief to both Wenger and supporters.
If they are to still be in with a serious chance of winning the Premier League title in six months’ time, the Gunners will need that to continue.
