Sol Campbell said on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday afternoon (1:15pm, September 1, 2019) that Tottenham Hotspur are ahead of Arsenal at the moment.

The former England international central defender believes that Arsenal are now playing catch-up to their bitter North London rivals Tottenham.

Campbell, who started his professional club football career at Spurs before making the move to Arsenal, has also praised Mauricio Pochettino’s side for their progress over the past two seasons.

Campbell said on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday afternoon (1:15pm, September 1, 2019): “I think the last couple of seasons, for sure. Tottenham have improved massively, in all departments.

“They’ve now got a new stadium, so it’s time for Arsenal to catch up because they have been left behind, no doubt about it. Arsenal are trying to get back to being that competitive side and they’re slowly doing that.

“What Tottenham have done over the last two seasons has been fantastic, they’ve grown. It wasn’t like that when I was there. Now, they’re up there competing; Champions League final. It’s fantastic.”

Tottenham Hotspur are ahead of Arsenal

True, Arsenal have made a good start to the season, but it is clear that Spurs are ahead of them at the moment.

While Tottenham have established themselves as regulars in the top four of the Premier League, the Gunners have been out of the Champions League and may struggle to get back in Europe’s premier club competition for a while.

Of course, in football anything is possible and things change very quickly, but it is hard to see Spurs fall behind Arsenal anytime soon.
