Could Tottenham sign Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool?

Controversial former Tottenham defender has been weighing in on potential transfer targets for the club this summer.

Speaking to Bet Stars, Campbell has tipped England international Daniel Sturridge to make the move to Spurs.

Sturridge has been out of favour at Tottenham this season, making only seven Premier League starts at 13 substitute appearances, contributing three goals.

Campbell believes Sturridge could form a fearsome partnership with Harry Kane in North London.

He said: “Daniel Sturridge needs a fresh start. I think he could definitely complement Harry Kane as a pair, both of them are livewires and would scare defences. Or if Kane is injured, he can lead the line. Sturridge will want to show people that he’s not finished in the Premier League.”

Campbell added that Tottenham need to be ambitious in their transfer business, rather than settling for second best.

He commented: “To get to the top and stay at the top, Spurs have to start spending a little bit more money on certain players. If there’s a talent that you need that is going to cost a bit, you can’t keep on searching for second best and seeing if you can train them up.

“It doesn’t always work out. Sometimes you have to the pay the fee and get that player in instantly who can make it happen straight away.”

Sturridge has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, and playing with Kane could suit him in terms of prolonging his career, but he may be unwilling to move to a club where he would not be an automatic first choice after a frustrating season this campaign.

In the 2013/14 season he scored 21 league goals and needs to get back to that sort of form to show he is not a fading force.

Liverpool though should have serious reservations about strengthening a rival, who finished 10 points above them this past season.
