Leeds United fans have been demanding for some time now for Eddie Nketiah to be given his first Championship start of the season.

Patrick Bamford of Leeds United

Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba has seemingly suggested that he would rather face Patrick Bamford than Eddie Nketiah when asked about the Leeds United duo.

Bamba was asked which player he would want to see on the bench when his Cardiff City side play Leeds in December, and he stated that he would rather see Bamford on the bench, which may surprise some given the recent storm surrounding the duo.

Marcelo Bielsa has opted to start Bamford for every Championship game this season, which has resulted in fans venting their anger that Arsenal loanee Nketiah is not getting any starts

Speaking to Football Centre on Sky Sports Football (23/10/2019 at 10:50 am) Bamba shared his thoughts on Leeds United’s most-talked-about duo.

On who he’d rather see on the bench when Leeds face Cardiff: “Oh, that’s a tough one,” Bamba told Sky Sports. “I do think I’d rather see Bamford on the bench, to be honest. You know what he’s going to do. He works hard. He’s a good player. He scored goals when he has the chance.

“I think Nketiah has more pace about him. He’s quick. He can go behind. He can go deep as well. If I do play against them I’d rather have Bamford on the bench, definitely.”

Bamba, who is returning from a long-term injury, will be hoping to be fit and firing by the time his Cardiff City side take on Leeds in December.

By then a lot more games would have passed, and if Nketiah is still in a position where he is hardly earning starts then the Leeds fans will seriously start to worry.

He is on a season-long loan from Arsenal and if his parent club think he’s not earning enough game time or being developed then they do have the power to pull the plug come January.
