Leeds United centre-back Sol Bamba did his best in their match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Leeds United had a match to forget on Saturday, losing 3-0 to Blackburn Rovers and having Rudy Austin sent off.
Gary Bowyer’s side scored three second-half goals through Tom Cairney, Jordan Rhodes and Jay Spearing and with just 43 per cent possession and two shots on target, Leeds could do little to respond.
While it was clearly not Leeds’ day, one player in particular continued to prove that he will always give his all, regardless of the situation or the score-line.
He may have been part of a defence that shipped three, but Sol Bamba still managed to impress, as he nearly always does.
| Passing Accuracy | Outfield Blocks | Duels Won | Aerials Won | Interceptions Won | Tackles Won | Effective Clearances | Effective Headed Clearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sol Bamba | 83% | 3 | 6 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 8 | 5 | 90 |
The Leeds loanee had a passing accuracy of 83 per cent – below his best but still impressive – while he made an impressive three outfield blocks in his one-man attempt to keep Rovers at bay.
Bamba also won six duels, three aerial battles and two interceptions, and although he did not win any tackles he made a total of 13 effective clearances in the 90 minutes.
Whether he will remain at Leeds for the long term remains to be seen, but whatever the future holds, for now Bamba is proving to be one of Leeds’ canniest signings for many a year.
