Sol Bamba had a game to forget against Brentford with Bellusci waiting in the wings

The Leeds United defender looked out of sorts against Brentford.

For much of his time at Leeds United centre-back Sol Bamba has looked a class act; the imposing defender the Whites have needed for quite some time.

After making his loan move permanent during the summer, the Ivorian started this season as he finished the last, but his most recent outing against Brentford left a lot to be desired.

This time it was Bamba who looked out of sorts and his centre-back partner Liam Cooper who bailed him out on more than one occasion.

For a player renowned for his strength and composure, Bamba had a very poor game as Leeds drew 1-1 courtesy of a late strike from Italian forward Mirco Antenucci.

He looked shaky throughout and on another day he could easily have played a part in Leeds’ first league defeat of the season.

As it was, Uwe Rosler’s defence was only breached once, with Cooper and left-back Charlie Taylor particularly impressive along with midfielder Lewis Cook.

But many more showings like this from Bamba and he may be dropped in favour of Giuseppe Bellusci – something that seemed very unlikely just a few short weeks ago.
