Leeds United suffered a damaging defeat against Queens Park Rangers in Championship on Tuesday night.
Sol Bamba has claimed that Leeds ‘always’ falter during the ‘wrong time’ of the season following their 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night.
There is no doubt that the Championship has entered its crucial months and slipping up at this stage, wherever you are in the table, could prove to be costly.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who had the chance to move top of the table if they won at Loftus Road, are beginning to show signs of slipping up once again.
Speaking to the Football Centre on Sky Sports News (27/02/2019 at 10:50 am), Cardiff defender Bamba offered a damning assessment of his former side, but he is still hopeful they can finish in the top two.
“I do think they have got more steal about them this season,” Bamba told Sky Sports News. “Hopefully, they can stay there and hang in there and do automatic because [winning the] playoffs is very, very difficult.
“I think their manager is very demanding. Maybe it is a bit of tiredness in there. I don’t know because they have been doing that in the previous season as well. You can’t always say it’s about fatigue. I feel like they always do that at the wrong time of the year, so hopefully, they can hang in there and [finish] in the top two.”
Since the turn of the year, Leeds have suffered a damaging four defeats in the league as they are making life difficult in trying to finish in the Championship’s top two.
At this moment in time, Sheffield United, who are level on points with Leeds, are sitting in second place, while leaders Norwich hold a two-point lead on their promotion rivals.
Not many supporters would argue that those three teams have produced the best football on a more consistent basis over the course of the campaign.
But poor form going into these final few months could prove to be costly as not many fans would want to go through the dreaded play-offs.
