Michael Dawson says Liverpool need to show ‘intent’ by securing the summer transfer of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, as he told Stadium Astro.
The former Premier League defender thinks FSG will show what they are all about if they push to sign the 19-year-old during a summer when Jude Bellingham is expected to leave.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the running for his signature, but their current issue is that they will be knocked out by the time the season is finished because they are at risk of losing Champions League football next season.

If that happens, then they can wave goodbye to transfers such as Bellingham because they are already on the back foot to sign him because of their financial situation.
The Reds don’t spend like Manchester City have done over the years, or they haven’t gone crazy in the market like new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is doing right now.
Either way, Dawson was pretty clear about what Liverpool need to do in the market as they continue to take hits in the Premier League.
“I think we will see the intent of what Liverpool are about this summer,” said Dawson. “If they go and spend over £100 million on Jude Bellingham, then I think that shows.
“Klopp is still there. The new ownership. He is a player that they have to get. They need midfield players. They are an ageing midfield. The game has got quicker and you need legs in your team. I think Jude Bellingham is a must for them to sign. I am not sure he will go there. But I think if they sign him, then that shows the intent of Liverpool.
“I don’t think he would go to Liverpool. One, he would be too expensive for Liverpool. I think he would be near £120-130 million which Dortmund would want. I think if he came back to the Premier League, then it would be Manchester City because they have the funds or Manchester United. Would he go to Real Madrid?!
“I think Liverpool have to make a marquee signing. Someone who is so young. He is English. Everyone is talking about him. You talk about longevity, you would have him for a long, long time. I do believe he is that good.”

SOMEONE NEEDED NOW
Bellingham himself would make a huge difference to this ageing and energy-sapped Liverpool midfield. But he’s not going to arrive this month.
In fact, the club can’t rely on him even joining when Dortmund prepare to sell him.
Either way, a new face needs to be brought in this month because the club’s problems are just getting worse and worse.
