West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing what Gary Lineker said about the Irons live on the BBC.

What did he say?

Speaking after England’s 2-0 win over Germany, the BBC Match of the Day host paid the east Londoners a compliment.

Lineker said that you ‘need a bit of West Ham’ in your squad to win a major tournament, after praising Declan Rice for his performance at Wembley.

He’s not wrong.

Rice delivered a heroic display despite playing 82 minutes of the match with a yellow card hanging over him.

As WhoScored shows, the West Ham No.41 made four tackles, more than anyone else on the pitch recorded.

Rice also registered three interceptions, one clearance and one block, in what was a colossal display.

As we approach the quarter-final stage, West Ham’s EURO 2020 representatives are doing the club proud.

Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal are both still in the competition with the Czech Republic, while Rice has obviously progressed too.

Elsewhere, Andriy Yarmolenko helped Ukraine into the quarter-final by beating Sweden last night, grabbing an assist for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

On that note, the east Londoners should be very proud.

For now, let’s see what the West Ham fans on Twitter have been saying about Lineker’s comment…
