According to 90Min, Tottenham Hotspur could offer Tanguy Ndombele to Roma in a swap deal for either Nicolo Zaniolo or Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Ndombele has been making headlines this week after his poor performance against Morecombe and his terrible body language as he came off the pitch.

Following the game, reports emerged stating that the Frenchman could leave Spurs this summer, and now 90Min reckon he could be used as a bargaining chip in a swap deal.

Interestingly, Spurs are looking at two Roma players as potential options, and that could see Ndombele reunited with his former manager, Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho may well be interested in such a deal. After all, he’s previously had a lot of good things to say about Ndombele in the past.

What’s Mourinho said about Ndombele?

Mourinho had good things to say about Ndombele right up until his final month as Spurs boss.

He labelled the midfielder ‘amazing’ and ‘so talented’, and while he questioned his work ethic, it’s clear to see that Mourinho was a fan of this player.

“Tanguy, I have to be honest, Tanguy is the kind of guy who you always expect more than what he gives you, because he is so talented that you always expect more,” he said last April.

“More because the talent is amazing. You know I think by the talent point of view, by the creation in midfield, by the vision, he is second to nobody at this moment in European football.

“But the feeling is always that he has something more to give. He never reaches the limits of the effort, the sacrifice, even the ambition.

“So he is the guy that I love him as a player but frustrates me a little bit because I think he can be much better, much better than what he is.”

“When I see for example France and Tanguy was not playing, I don’t blame Didier [Deschamps]. I blame Tanguy, because he’s better than the other guys.

“He should show that every day in training and in every match.”

Better suited to Italy

Ndombele may not have been consistently brilliant under Mourinho, but perhaps that will change if he heads to Rome,

Serie A is famously a slower-paced league than the Premier League, and with the Frenchman being a very languid player, that could suit him to a tee.

Just look at how someone like Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has flourished in Italy with Napoli after leaving Fulham. He plays in a similar way to Ndombele, and there’s reason to believe the French midfielder could go through a similar transformation if he heads to Italy.

A move to Serie A could be just what the doctor ordered for Ndombele, but whether or not Mourinho will accept such a swap deal remains to be seen.
