Tottenham Hotspur supporters are reacting to a development regarding Patrick Vieira on Twitter.

Spurs are set to take on Crystal Palace in North London this afternoon.

The Boxing Day clash looked on the brink of being postponed following a covid outbreak within Vieira’s squad.

But the contest is going ahead now, though Vieira, an Arsenal icon, will not be in the dugout.

According to The Athletic, the former Arsenal midfielder himself has tested positive for the coronavirus and now his assistant Osian Roberts will deputise for the Frenchman.

Palce confirmed the absence at 12:10 this afternoon.

Here’s how some Tottenham supporters reacted to this development:

Brilliant

It’s brilliant news for the Lilywhites that the game is going ahead as scheduled.

Remember, Antoino Conte’s outfit already have three Premier League games in hand over a lot of clubs in the division, which would’ve been four had this fixture been scrapped.

Simply put, Tottenham can’t miss any more games because although they’ll be played eventually, you’d rather have the points.

For instance, a victory for Arsenal away to Norwich City today would’ve put the Gunners nine points clear of Spurs in the race for a Champions League qualification spot, had their North London rivals suffered from another postponed clash.

Conte’s side are seventh in the Premier League and six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal but, as mentioned, winning all of their spare matches over their rivals would result in being leapfrogged.
