Former Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor believes Steven Gerrard would be ideal to replace Steve Bruce. Who last season made history with Rangers.
Speaking on Sky Sports News via the Shields Gazette, the ex-Premier League fullback said that the Rangers manager is perfect to take over the northeast side following the Saudi Arabia purchase of the club.
Bruce left the club earlier in the month just two weeks after PIF’s takeover of Newcastle. And a search for a new manager is still ongoing. The likes of Paulo Fonseca and Unai Emery are apparently on the club’s radar. As is Gerrard as per the Times.
Indeed, with the January transfer window slowly approaching and Newcastle still in the relegation zone, a new manager should come in sooner rather than later. And Taylor believes Gerrard would be perfect.
The former Newcastle defender said: “I would love to see someone like Steven Gerrard in charge of Newcastle. It’s so passionate up there, and coming from this city, you know what passion is all about.
Taylor added: “For me, someone like Steven Gerrard. Because he plays football the right way. He knows who good players are, and I think he’s done an unbelievable job at Rangers.”
Gerrard is perfect to lead Newcastle project

With Newcastle set to have a huge transfer fund to work with in the upcoming windows, a manager like Gerrard could be perfect to steer the ship and to lead the club in a bold and exciting direction.
The former Liverpool captain made history with Rangers last season as Gerrard led the Scottish giants to their 55th SPL title. And for Newcastle, the young manager could make a mark of his own if given the tools to succeed.
