Ian Wright was baffled why West Ham United attacker Said Benrahma wasn’t selected to start, as per his comments on the Wrighty’s House Podcast.
West Ham were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United on Sunday evening, with their defensive approach surprising many.
West Ham’s main objective appeared to be to keep a clean sheet at the weekend, rather than win the game.
David Moyes tried to block up the midfield, by deploying Mark Noble, rather than a more attacking option.
And Wright was simply stunned over why Benrahma was left out.
“He went so negative the other day, and I know he is missing Jesse Lingard, but he still had Lanzini and Benrahma,” he said.
“If you’re going to play Soucek and Rice you can easily fit in a Benrahma and make it a triangle.
“No disrespect to Mark Noble. You could still bring on a Lanzini.
“I would have just gone very attacking against United because they always start so slowly.

“You should have went more positive to try and beat Manchester United and then in the end he brought on Lanzini and Benrahma anyway.
“Just let the guys off the leash, bro.”
Benrahma hasn’t set the world alight since moving to West Ham in the summer, but it is hard to argue that they wouldn’t have been improved if the £20 million (Sky) was involved.
West Ham badly lacked creativity in their last outing, with their attacking play stifled.
The Hammers remain in a strong position, just outside the top four, but their performance levels will surely have to improve in future weeks if they are to make it into the Champions League qualification spots.
