Speaking in the latest copy of FourFourTwo Magazine (May 2022, page 38), Gabriel Martinelli has named Martin Odegaard as the player who impresses him the most in Arsenal training.
The Gunners have some absolutely wonderful footballers on their books at the moment, from Bukayo Saka, to Emile Smith Rowe to Kieran Tierney, but according to Martinelli, Odegaard is the top dog at London Colney.
Indeed, according to Martinelli, Odegaard is the best player in training at Arsenal, and it’s not just because of his individual quality either.
The Brazilian praises the Norwegian, not only for his talent, but for his character, stating that he’s a fantastic team player who is always chatting to everyone.
What’s been said?
Martinelli was asked which player impresses him the most in Arsenal training.
“Definitely, Martin [Odegaard] – he has so much quality and is such a team player. He’s always chatting to everyone,” Martinelli said.

Future captain?
Arsenal don’t have a permanent captain in place at the moment, but after reading Martinelli’s comments, Odegaard seems like he could be a good option.
He’s already the captain of his national team, so he knows how to take on such a responsibility, while Martinelli says that he has a good rapport with everyone in the squad and that he’s a team player.
Odegaard is also one of Arsenal’s most talented footballers, so he’d have no problem leading by example.
Odegaard would make a fine Arsenal captain.
