‘So much energy’: Some Liverpool fans think 29-year-old was ‘easily the best’ vs Brighton

Sadio Mane scored his sixth goal in the Premier League so far this season as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Brighton on Saturday, sparking some fans to react on social media.

The Senegal winger doubled the Reds’ advantage at home to the Seagulls after Jordan Henderson’s early opener. Heading home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross in the 24th-minute after the substitute curled an inviting delivery into Robert Sanchez’s box.

Liverpool thought Mane soon added another 12-minutes later, but a VAR review spotted the ball hitting his arm. The Reds catching their guests trying to play out from the back, with Mane robbing Sanchez for possession.

Brighton responded to Mane’s no-goal and hit Liverpool just before the break to change the momentum on Merseyside. Enock Mwepu curling a glorious attempt into the top corner, catching Alisson Becker by surprise to slash the deficit.

The Seagulls were dead and buried before Mwepu’s goal four-minutes before the break, but dug deep and found the rewards. Leandro Trossard this time beating Alisson from seven-yards out. And he could have boasted a brace, but for the offside flag.

Liverpool fans praise Mane performance

Yet despite Brighton claiming a draw from 2-0 goals down, some Liverpool fans still praised Mane’s efforts against the Seagulls. That’s because the 29-year-old stood out to them for his goal, but also his defensive work.

Mane continually tracked back to offer Andrew Robertson support on the left-flank against Solly March, Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey. His all-round game delighting some Reds fans on social media, after returning to the starting line-up.
