According to Gerard Romero on his Twitch channel. Aston Villa now have an interest in signing Luis Suarez from Atletico Madrid.

This would undoubtedly be a massive signing. After all, Suarez is one of the greatest strikers of all time and he’s proven at Premier League level.

However, aside from Suarez’s brilliance, one notable aspect of this interest is the potential impact that Suarez’s arrival could have on Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho has, of course, played with Suarez at both Liverpool and Barcelona, and he’s previously expressed how much he enjoys playing with the Uruguayan.

What’s Coutinho said about Suarez?

Coutinho was full of praise for his teammate when speaking to The Telegraph when the pair played together at Liverpool.

“Suarez is a fantastic player,” the Brazilian said. “It is an honour for me to play with him. It is so much easier to play alongside a player like him because he is always on the move, he never stays still. When you have the ball it is much better for you to have a player like that because you can open the defence much more.”

“We always communicate on the pitch in Spanish, he speaks Spanish and I understand it. I spent six months in Spain so can get by quite well with it. It is not only [Suarez]. The other players are always trying to help me get better.”

Need to adapt

Coutinho and Suarez enjoyed playing together at both Liverpool and Barcelona, but it’s fair to say that a lot has changed since then.

Suarez, as talented as he is, is no spring chicken anymore at the age of 34, and while Coutinho once said that he’s always on the move, he’s no longer as quick as he once was.

However, despite the pair’s great relationship will only bode well for Villa if the Midlands club can get this one over the line.
